Make diversity, inclusion and wellbeing work for you
Happy employees stay longer, grow faster, work more efficiently and work together to ensure your success. How do you ensure an organizational culture where employees feel truly involved and valued? There is no one-size-fits-all advice with which I promise the moon. I help to gain insight into what is going on, pitch a plan towards an inclusive culture and together with you give substance to what often starts as a KPI.
My approach starts with talking. Not just with management, but with employees at all levels, so that I get a complete picture of the dynamics within your organization. Through both qualitative and quantitative research, I map out where the needs and challenges lie. I translate the results into a clear, concrete two-pager with insights and recommendations. This way, you know exactly what steps we are going to take to strengthen involvement, inclusion and well-being on the work floor. Commitment from the management team is of course a requirement in this. Together we build a working environment in which everyone feels at home.
Offer of individual sessions
1. Over De Streep is a deepening of the collaboration or the beginning of the solution if bullying occurs in the workplace. 27% of employees feel bullied in the workplace (CNV, 2024), so you can bet that it happens to you too. During Over De Streep they get to know each other better through my program. I show them that they have more similarities than differences and that is where the collaboration begins. Over De Streep is offline, takes at least 3 hours and requires preparation time from HR.
2. Monthly In Conversation is called the digital living room by participants. Here I facilitate conversations about topics such as mental health, religion, culture, dreams & goals, neurodiversity, prejudice, bullying, etc. Monthly In Conversation can be done not only online, but also offline and is a recurring concept that works best on a monthly basis.
3. Seminars and webinars. Not only physically, but also digitally you can achieve a lot by paying attention to topics such as gender & orientation, sexuality, racism and inclusion. This medium is perfect if you want to reach a larger group. Both online and offline I ensure that the group can vote, join in the discussion and continue the conversation afterwards.
4. Managers for inclusion. I take leaders along in why inclusion is also urgent for them and show that it has only just begun with a diverse team. You can hire diverse genders, diverse backgrounds and more people of color. But if those people do not feel heard, seen and valued, it is a waste of your time. Managers towards inclusion consists of at least two parts and requires dedication from the leadership team.
5. Inclusive recruitment process. Language is a tool to get your message across, but language can also make you feel welcome or unwelcome. By choosing words in a vacancy text, people often write unintentionally for men, women, neurotypical or able-bodied people. I like to think along with you about how you can be truly inclusive and not miss out on new talent.
6. An inclusive workplace. The workplace is designed for neurotypical people without physical challenges, but how accessible are you for people with autism, a person in a wheelchair or someone with visual or hearing impairments? Let me think with you about how you don't exclude talent.
7. A listening ear. Sometimes you just need someone to tell your story to. An independent person who has no say in your function or salary and asks the questions that help you understand yourself better. I like to be that listening ear for the staff and, where necessary, make a plan together towards a solution.
“ In Conversation brings a lot more than many folks may think. They are always very refreshing, deep and valuable. Everyone being so honest and raw and kind is so precious."
" Very well organized with thoughtful questions, an open place where one can really feel a connection with their colleagues. I feel reinvigorated after this.
Amber is amazing. She is kind, nice and has a beautiful soul. She is the best person to lead these conversations. "
“ In Conversation creates a community with respect for each other, a deeper connection with each other, more open mind way of thinking and creating a better team/ company. ”
“The conversation brings awareness that people experience the word differently and helps build a more inclusive and understanding workplace. It encourages respect for neurodiversity and other unique perspectives. ”
“ This dialogue allows us to discover aspects that may be taboo for some, and ask questions without feeling embarrassed. Human curiosity is a good thing when it comes to breaking down barriers and understanding others. ”
