Emotional skills for better results

At school, young people develop not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. Open conversations about inclusion, mental health and sexuality create a culture where every student feels welcome. We talk about empathy, respect, dealing with stress and anxiety, discovering which emotions are yours and which are your parents’, and healthy sexual development. By breaking taboos, students notice that they are not alone in their insecurities, mutual understanding grows, bullying and discrimination decreases and school becomes a place where young people can be themselves.

The conversations I have with students not only make a difference in their school results, but also give them the social and emotional skills they need later. By giving space to what is going on in their minds, we are building together a generation that looks at themselves and others with more compassion.

Frank Helsloot, Volantscholen about guest lectures

"The curriculum covers many topics that concern students in grades 1 and 2 (and probably 3 as well). Think of social media / sexuality / gender and also how you see yourself. The great thing about this setup is that you as the purchasing school can choose how many lessons and which lessons you take. We took 6 lessons and we experienced this as pleasant, open, relaxed and professional."

Guest lectures Secondary Education

Secondary education is the place where children search for who they are as a person. During that search you will encounter (pre)judgments, differences, expectations and The Norm. The Norm is a major obstacle when you try to be who you are. I will discuss that norm and everything that falls outside of it. I have learned how to take students, from a didactic point of view, into subjects that are taboo for many people. The goal of each lesson is for students to learn to understand themselves and others better in an interactive way. From sexuality to insecurities, from inclusive on social media to genders & orientation, everything is covered. My curriculum fits seamlessly with core objectives for secondary education and plays an important role in learning to focus on similarities instead of differences.
